A late 19th century bronze after Edme Dumont’s 1768 marble figure of Milo de Croton in the Louvre, Paris. This Palatial bronze has a magnificent patina and is wonderfully cast.

Milo was from the ancient Greek city of Croton. He was a brilliant wrestler and military leader, it was said that Milo carried a bull on his shoulders, and to have burst a band about his brow by simply inflating the veins of his temples. The date of Milo’s death is unknown, but he reportedly was attempting to tear a tree
